Horrible walkie talkies..Can get a range of 1/4 very clear, after that nothing. Avoid unless buying for your kids or for outside play. They are small and light, too bad they do not work very well (12 range range is complteley absurd, unless maybe you are on top of a mountain range calling down base camp. I doubt they even work then!)

The battery ran out within 10 minutes on the first pair I purchased for my 2 and 6 year old sons. I returned it (still have not gotten my refund 4 weeks later) and got a new pair. The new ones are a little better…they last maybe up to an hour. That would be my biggest criticism – you will go through alot of batteries…but other than that they function well and are small and easy to use. I did not test the 12 mile range…my boys just use these for play at home.

12 miles? On what planet? I’m lucky if I can go 1/2 mile before the signal on these things starts to break up!! Although, for $20 I’m not the least bit surprised. You get what you pay for in this world. I’ll keep them to use around the office, but I will not be cancelling my Nextel service any time soon! If I had any kids, I would give these to them to use as toys! LOL! :-D

If you plan on communicating over more than 1/2 mile or in a multi-level high-rise, do yourself a favor and get some real jobsite radios. These just won’t cut it.

This worked great until we realized the batteries died within 30-60 minutes of use. Each radio takes three AAA batteries. We tried two sets to rule out old or expired batteries, with the same bad result. We had already thrown away the original packaging because we thought they worked great (reception is good), so could not even return them. Really disappointed!

I never had a product like this. It has a range less then 1 block. The batteries are swallow up quickly and the transmission is poor.
