Disappointing quality. Unable to assemble the AM antenna with either instructions or the “drawing,” & I am a member of Mensa and a techie. Ridiculous power supply & antenna arrangement. I received it today and returned it today. I’m shocked that Sony would put their name on this.

As previously noted this alarm clock radio makes a humming noise when it is plugged in (I think it is coming from the large power brick), and a louder fan noise at other times – usually when the radio is on. If you like a quiet room for sleeping this is not the alarm clock for you. I like a quiet room for sleeping and so am going to return mine.

This was very disappointing. The sound is decent, but I was shocked to find that Sony did not include a dock adapter for any version of the iPod. Adapters for the iPhone were included.
Not only was there no iPod dock, but Sony also does not ship batteries for the remote. I would look at competitive products.

I recently purchased this Sony iPod dock, and while appreciated the small footprint, HD radio as well as the simple layout, I was deeply disappointed with the sound quality. Before I continue, let me say that my expectations for sound were modest…I was not looking to replicate that sound of my full size stereo system, I was looking to match or improve the sound of my Klipsch iPod dock. As others have noted, the surround sound improves the sound of the system by enhancing the treble. However, the bass is extremely poor as there is high degree distortion even at low volumes and low bass settings. Overall, the sound lacks body in my opinion. On a side note, I’m perplexed as to why such a compact system needs a tank for a power supply cord (what’s up with the Sony engineers????) I’m going to return this system and look for another dock…perhaps another Klipsch (but I refuse to get anything Bose!)

Radio is built very solid, HD Radio comes in very well and works with the IPOD as advertised. Sound quality is very nice and works well for the classical, jazz and news radio that I listen to. So if the music you listen to falls outside those mentioned I am not too sure how it would work out.
Con’s: No snooze button, the light seems bright at night and can be annoying. Buttons are all similar and not easy to work at night.
All around, I enjoy the radio and given the alternatives out there and the sound poor sound quality, it was a solid purchase.
