I’m very disappointed that the antenna cable doesn’t fit my Excursion, and I followed their instructions to the tee. It seems like the engineers designed it without thinking of big SUV owners, because I’m about six feet short. And, they only sell a 50 foot extension cable and it costs 50 dollars to boot! When I complained about the price and size of the cable they told me to tear it out, and put it on the front windshield and disregard the instructions. Having little choice of options, so I asked if they could send me another adhesive rubber striping which I had already installed, and they said “no”. I’ll have to find it locally at a store and unfortunately I live in a small town. You would think since their instructions are incomplete and their cables are lacking sufficient length, they would at least send you a six foot extension or rubber striping fast. But, NO.

I purchased an XM subscription 2.5 years ago. Late in 2008, I attempted to cancel the subscription. First of all, they make it very easy to sign up via the Web, but they make it almost impossible to cancel the subscription. They give you an amazing phone-run around (yes you have to call), then they simply place you on hold and wait for you to give up and go away. Really.

Secondly, once you sign up, they will continue to renew your subscription (charging your card) until you somehow manage to cancel.

Finally, my credit card company tried to help and we set up a three-way call. The lady promised to stop my service and said I would get a credit

for the unused portion of my annual charge. Yeah, right. This was 3 months ago and no credit has appeared.

Whatever you do, please don’t give these guys your credit card number. This goes for both Sirius and XM now that they have merged. They run a dishonest business.

I bought this unit, for my home, to replace an old JVC unit that the display has failed. I thought I was buying a unit that I could use in my house. That is only possible if I buy an additional “kit” $50.00 I can’t even use the adapter from my old serius unit because they have changed the size of the plug. I feel like they got me. I may just return it.

I just canceled some services and Sirus XM charged me $75 dollar termination fee. I never was advised that there would be a termination fee and it was not, just like this radio, in any of the print. When I talked to the supervisor he said that they do not have to prove you signed a contract and he said they would not send me anything that proved I signed a contract. They tricked me once but they won’t trick me twice. Consumer—-LOOK OUT!

The sportster 5 is a much better receiver than my old, dead Xact XTR1. The sportster 5 does have one major flaw. The screen is not clear when using polarized glasses. For drivers used to polarized glasses, looking at the sportster 5 is annoying.

Update: This is only going to be a problem if you place the sportster at an angle, like laying flat on the console. If the unit is installed so you can view the screen directly there isn’t a problem.
